This series captures cultural inheritance of the Hani ethnic group in Yunnan, China.
Wang Halong, inheritor of the county-level heritage The Four Seasons Farming Ballad, teaches this ancient farming ballad to his young apprentice beside a cottage hearth. The Hani have no written language, so the folk song can only be passed down orally. Most young villagers leave mountain villages to work in cities, and this precious tradition is slowly dying out. The warm firelight represents the last spark of this vanishing ethnic culture.
