About This Project

‘Blowing in the Wind’ is the second in a series of flower projects printed in a handmade book with words by Wanda Garner.

Edward Steichen ’s photograph ‘Heavy Roses’ was the initial inspiration. This was  the last photograph he took as he left France before the Great War in 1914. The description in Aperture describes the slow death of the sensual blooms mirroring the imminent world disaster.

Bob Dylan, the protesting voice of a generation asks questions that are hard to grasp. However, like the wind we know it is there and we can feel it.

This leaves the door to hope open. The sunflower, symbolic of peace and resilience for Ukrainians offers renewal.

Let’s hope we find the answer.
