RESIDENTS – TARA

I find describing myself as queer the easiest way to describe my identity. I understand how there are many people in the community who don’t like the reclamation of this word,  and I respect their experiences, but it’s simply what I feel comfortable with, as I believe it is all encompassing of the community.

I’m 32 and I live in the Anfield area. I moved to Liverpool in June 2024. I love being here, I  moved around a lot during Covid, and Liverpool is the first place I truly feel like I belong. Liverpool definitely feels like home to me. Moving here was the best decision I’ve ever made.

I have met so many wonderful people who make me feel accepted here, I’ve even been called an “honorary Scouser”.

The LGBTQ+ community is visible in Liverpool and not just in the Stanley Street strip. I  have been fortunate enough to attend events around the city by and for the FLINTA community. It’s been great to see the events being held in various venues, as, to me, it shows how open and welcoming the city is.
