About This Project
You’ve probably walked along a beach. What do you experience? What do you see?
Is it just gray sand, or are there wonderful stories just lying there, waiting to be discovered?

I see patterns, shapes, colors, and lines. Sometimes the beach is like an abstract painting meeting the elements of naturalism! That is, if you look closely.

In this series of photos, which I call “Washed up on the beach,” I try to capture the mood of an encounter between the abstract and the natural. Sometimes I use different compositional techniques, such as the golden ratio (or, more simply, the “rule of thirds”), and I also use soft lines, for example, which can add elegance to an image, and so on.

You can certainly take photos at the beach and come home with lots of wonderful memories.
But it’s not the memories that are the focus of my photo series; rather, it’s photographic art, where each subject is carefully selected and photographed exactly the way I believe will best serve the image’s narrative.
