About This Project

Lisbon, Portugal, has become overwhelmed with tourists, digital nomads and wealthy expats. The streets swarm with suitcases, elegant men, women and hipsters.

From abroad we are bombarded with bait images that siren call us over to Lisbon, pictures of beautiful buildings and perfect evenings, flawless food, water and people.

However, there is loneliness and exhaustion to the everyday people of the city, the elderly Portuguese and refugees who came under less glamorous pretences, that have not benefited from this new influx of wealth and foreigners. These pictures show us the story of that tired loneliness, the Lisbon that is ignored and excluded from travel blogs and instagram posts.

This is so interesting! And sad. And I want to read and see more! And also I can see these are real film photos. Am I right?
