About This Project

Island identities were once founded on the historical and cultural sense of  belonging defined by their physical borders. The trans-global communication systems which  shape our contemporary lives, produce a remoteness from experience of place and time which impacts on our physical relationship with the landscape. Physical sensation is one of the  common roots of human experience.

Produced by the slow and material procedures specific to walking and large format (5×4)  analogue photography, the project focuses on sites of information transmission and asks the  question: what is being lost?

Central Themes: Land / Technology / Photography / Identity / Loss.
