Brian from B.Shrigley & Sons has worked at the fishmongers since he was 17, and the business has been open on Allerton Road for 50 years. He talks about the many other businesses that have come and gone. The shop is the epitome of a family business; Brain took over from his dad and now works there with his sister, wife and son. They pride themselves on top quality fish including ‘line-caught’ – a more sustainable way of fishing. I’d recommend their crab meat – complete with shell! The fishmongers is next door to our greengrocers so sometimes we catch a nice, familiar scent of the sea wafting our way!
