RESIDENTS – HOLLY

RESIDENTS BY MING DE NASTY

HOLLY

I’m a 26-year-old Dyke from Wavertree.

I love living in Liverpool. Having been from and lived here for most of my life, I know a brilliant network of creative and passionate people who continue to inspire me.

I have been going to LGBT+ events since I was a teenager and have recently started my own night called Dykeology, which is also part of this year’s Homotopia Festival. A proper DIY let’s-get-everyone-in-a-room kind of deal for alternative dykes in Liverpool. I’ve not always felt there was a space for me in Liverpool growing up, but as an adult, I’ve created those spaces for myself with people I have common ground with.

I feel that the LGBTQ+ community is a lot more visible within the city’s streets and culture as gay culture has slowly become mainstream.

It’s very visible to me because I’m part of it, I can recognise us in the street.
