About This Project

‘Losing and Remembering‘ is a project that uses my recently deceased grandfather’s photographic archive to show the mental effects of dementia.  My grandfather was diagnosed with dementia three years before he died from the disease.  During those three years, his memory rapidly declined, and his loved ones quickly became strangers.  With this series I intended to show a fragmented memory by tearing some of the photos he took during his life, a visual representation of a fragmented brain.
